Gilbert William Joestgen

Mineral Point – Gilbert William Joestgen, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born October 9, 1919 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin to John and Catherine (Zander) Joestgen and was the youngest of 2 sons. Gil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He married Eleanor Lawinger on Oct. 25, 1945. His infectious love of life and passion for his family and friends will be deeply missed.

Gilbert is survived by five children, Marianne (Neil) Jefferson, of McKinney, TX, Ed (Mary), of Mineral Point, John (Mary), of Spring Grove, IL, Joe (Barb), of Oak Creek, Tom (Joanne), of Dodgeville; his grandchildren, Kristin Jefferson, Raymond Joestgen, Jenna Joestgen, Kelsie Joestgen, Katie (Travis) Grooters, Matthew (Danielle) Fry, Dana Fry, Danny Joestgen, Alex Joestgen, Adam Joestgen, Andrew Joestgen, Amy Joestgen; his great-grandchildren, Brooke Jefferson, Lindsay Jefferson, Tyler Grooters, Ella Grooters, Jaxom Fry; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Lawinger), his parents, John and Catherine, his brother, Raymond and wife Eva (Crary).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Father Monte Robinson, Fr. Dave Flanagan and Deacon Larry Lawinger will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point, where a parish rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
