MIDDLETON- Genevieve Mattson, age 83, passed away peacefully March 25, 2013 at UW Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born on July 24, 1929, in Martinsville, the daughter of Michael and Henrietta (Pertzborn) Grosse. She graduated from Middleton High School and worked as a secretary. Gen married Kenneth Muetz in 1950. She helped Ken run his building and landscaping businesses. Ken passed away in 1985, and Gen later married Vernon Jensen. Together Vern and Gen owned The Roadrunner Resort in Phelps, WI. They eventually retired to Brooksville, FL. After Vern passed away, Gen met Charles Mattson. Charlie and Gen lived in Brooksville, FL and a few years ago, moved back to Middleton. Gen was a spirited lady who treasured time with her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and an appreciation for the sweet things in life. In spite of many hardships, including health difficulties in her later years, she maintained her strength through her faith.

Genevieve will be missed by her husband Charlie; daughters Mary (Jerry Kiley) Eslinger, Joan (Bill) Vanden Brook, Peggy (Jim) Eller, Shirley(Jack) Pellett; step-children Linda (Dan) Morrison, Susan Jensen, Amy Guetzke, Amanda Mattson, Brenda Harvey, and David Mattson; grandchildren Geoff, Bill, Sara, Erin, Emily, Jackson, Jordan, Jared, Kaetlyn, Nicole, Jenna, Lauren, Hanah, Sean, Drew, Nicole, Bradley, and Morgan; six great-grandchildren; four sisters in-law; a brother in-law; and many extended family members and friends. Gen was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands,brothers Leander, Wilbert, Gerald, Clayton, Gregory, Richard,and Mike, infant sister, Mary, and a grandson, Michael.

A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 1, 2013, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
