Elmer J. Bram

MADISON-Elmer J. Bram, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at his home. He was born on Feb. 2, 1927, in Springfield Corners, the son of Harvey J. and Lillian (Zeman) Bram. Elmer served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in the Korean War. He was a member of the Naval Reserves for 25 years. On March 31, 1951, he married Sally (Goff) Thompson. Elmer was a metallurgical and mining engineer at UW-Madison. More importantly, he was a wonderful father who built two family homes while successfully raising a family of five. Elmer was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was an active problem-solver just as he was at work. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Southside Businessman’s Association, Moose Club, active with the Southside Hockey Association, a Boy Scout leader, and avid hunter, fisherman and loved his family fish fry.

Elmer is survived by Sally Thompson; his children, Kathy Bram, Kristy Bram, David (Lora) Bram, Scott Bram, and Will (Ali) Bram; grandchildren, Jessiah and Ezra Bram; and faithful dog, Abby. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Kruchten and Leona Robb; and companion and friend, Rosina Karls.

Funeral services for Elmer will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC PARISH at the ST. JAMES CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Burial will be at St. Peters Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Madison, on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 4 until 7 p.m. as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
