Ellen Higgins

JANESVILLE – Ellen Bayruth Stacey Higgins, age 88, of Janesville, peacefully went home to our Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at home with all her loving family surrounding her. Our little Ground Hog was born on Feb. 2, 1924, in Rewey, WI, the daughter of Maude (Ferris) and Philo Stacey. Ellen graduated from Janesville High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Wesley Higgins on Sept. 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1987. Nanny was a creative homemaker, entrepreneur, and loving mother who was active throughout her life. She was best known as Bayruth, co-owner of the Sizzlin' Grill with her beloved sister-in-law, Kay Stacey.

Ellen is survived by her 3 daughters: Brenda Knowling, Roberta Duffy and Amy (Dan) White all of Janesville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, June (Tom) Johnson; sister-in-law, Kay Stacey; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A Private family funeral will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012. Lasting Memorials may be made to the Rock County Humane Society in Ellen's name, in honor of her beloved companion rescue cat, Frank.
