Edward I Boldon Jr

NAPLES, FL- Edward Ivan Boldon, Jr., M.D., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend died peacefully, with his wife by his side on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Naples, FL, at the age of 87. Ed married Lorrie Whitsitt Boldon on October 11, 2003. Ed and his wife, Lorrie, spent the last 3 years in Naples.

Dr. Boldon was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on August 12, 1925, to Edward Ivan and Ruth Beck Boldon. He was accepted into the Navy V-12 program and studied pre-med at Harvard University in 1943. Ed graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School in 1949. He served as a physician in the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. After residency at U.W. Hospital, Ed practiced general surgery in Madison, WI, from 1957 - 1990. He was chief of surgery at Madison General (Meriter) Hospital, on staff at St. Mary's Hospital, and Clinical Professor of Surgery at the U.W. Medical School.
During his lifetime, Ed's leisure pursuits included the Arts, golf, skiing, tennis, fly-fishing, and Badger sports. He had a lifelong desire to learn, including such things as computers, photography, history, and creating art. Ed was a true gentleman, treating others with dignity and respect. He will be dearly missed.

Ed was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Manzer Boldon, whom he married on December 19, 1948, his sister, Margaret (George) Swintz, and his parents.

Ed is survived by his wife, Lorrie; his four children, Elizabeth B. Setzer; Edward I. (Karen) Boldon III; William M. (Kim) Boldon; and Bruce B. Boldon; his grandchildren, Anna (Eric) Cihlar, Kyle (Amanda) Boldon, Michelle Boldon, Forrest (Andrea) Farrell, and Katharine Setzer; his great grandchildren Gabriel Cihlar, Rowan Cihlar, Wyatt Boldon, Leo Farrell; his brother David L. (Faith) Boldon of Webb Lake, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Madison, Wisconsin in June.
