A dump-truck driver was injured in a collision with a train Monday morning.

The crash occurred on Meek Road approximately 5 miles northeast of the village of DeForest about 11:18 a.m. at the Dane-Columbia County line, according to a Columbia County Sheriff's Office news release.

The driver of the dump truck said he was traveling west on Meek Road when he heard the train. He said he tried to stop put couldn't, according to deputies.

Deputies said snowy road conditions at the time of the crash might have been a factor.

Huebner was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and with failure to wear a seat belt, according to the news release.

Sheriff's officials said the train was traveling south at approximately 10 mph. The train, which is owned by Canadian Pacific Railway, consisted of two engines and five cars.

Damage to the train or to the train tracks is undetermined at this time, according to the Sheriff's Office.
