TOWN OF POTOSI, Wis. -

A Potosi man was flown to University of Wisconsin Hospital after a one-vehicle crash in Grant County.

Deputies were called to Brewery Hollow Road at Slazing Road in Potosi Township at 8 p.m. Thursday for a reported crash.

Investigators said David Mahr, 42, was traveling south on Slazing Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled on its side and Mahr was trapped inside.

Mahr was extricated with a JAWS unit and transported to Grant Regional Health Center; he was later flown to UW Hospital in Madison, according to deputies.

Deputies said Mahr had just left the Road House Bar in Potosi before the crash, and he was intoxicated and under the influence of heroin. He was arrested on suspicion of second-offense operating while intoxicated, failure to stop at a stop sign, operating left of the center line, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and failure to wear a seat belt.

Mahr was also arrested on suspicion of battery to an officer and emergency personnel. Deputies said Mahr was combative with officers, EMTs and ER staff.
