Denise Werla

Denise Werla age 71 died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus with her family by her side.

She was born in Baraboo to Harold and Ileen (Gable) Meyers. She was married to John Werla on November 3, 1962 in Middleton. Denise was formerly employed at the Columbus Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Columbus for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, baking and hunting. Denise was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and loved spending time at their cottage in northern Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Survivors include her husband, John of Columbus; a son, Tim (Kim) Werla of Venice FL; two daughters, Amy (Joel) Zeinert of Columbus and Pam (Jeff) Gubin of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Peterson, Lisa, Stacey, Steven, Sara, Samantha, Nick, Katie; six great grandchildren, Malachi, Samual, Mariah, Ella, Addison, Ayden; one sister, Barbara (Roger) Mott of Waunakee; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Jo “Scoot” Quandt in 1994; one sister, Sally Schwartz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at ST JEROME CATHOLIC CHURCH, Columbus. Rev. Steve Kortendick will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home, and from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the church on Tuesday.
