David T. "Willa" Kokkonen

CAMBRIDGE-David T. "Willa" Kokkonen, age 55, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. He was born on Nov. 12, 1957, in Moose Lake, Minn., the son of Albert and Norma Kokkonen. Prior to moving to Cambridge, David and his brother enjoyed going to Amnicon Falls State Park and jumping from the cliffs. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1975. David received an associate’s degree from MATC in computer programming in 1996. He was a bartender for many years at Utica Bar, and worked for more than 10 years at the VA Hospital in the IT Department. He enjoyed being a member of the Flying Zupan Brothers and had a fondness for the statistical side of baseball. David especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his father, Albert; siblings, Linda (Tom) Erickson of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., Joy (Jeff) Nelson of Stoughton, John (Nancy) Kokkonen of Stoughton, Charles Kokkonen (Noreen Hazlett) of Edgerton, and Gerald and Donald Kokkonen of Cambridge; five nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma.

A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. Inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Community Library, 200 Spring St., Cambridge, WI. 53523. Sisu

Service:
