David G. Riggs, Sr.

MADISON- David G. Riggs, Sr., age 92, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, surrounded by family members. He was born Nov. 20, 1920, to parents Ida and Garfield Riggs in North Carolina. David spent 23 years in the Air Force and retired in England. He met his wife Edna in England and they were married May 15, 1965. They returned to live in North Carolina, David’s birthplace. David and Edna decided to move to Wisconsin to be near his children.

David is survived by his four children; Elizabeth Jane (Fred) Schulze, Donald Ray (Dorothy) Riggs, Majorie Annette (LeRoy) Nelson, David G. (Mary) Riggs, Jr. ; and sister-in-law, Grace Kelly of Australia. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. David was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; and his beloved wife, Edna.

We wish to thank the Agrace HospiceCare staff, especially Tiffany, Shania, Angie and Jason. Both David and Edna enjoyed visiting with them and discussing their memories.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens with military honors and a luncheon will follow at the VFW Post NO.7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Fitchburg, WI 53711. Online condolences may be made to www.gundersonfh.com .
