MADISON, Wis. -

Two construction workers at two different work sites were injured in separate incidents Friday morning, according to the Madison Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the construction site of Madison's new main public library shortly after 10 a.m. for a report of an injured construction worker. The worker had fallen 4-5 feet onto a roof area. The patient was loaded into a basket and lowered with a crane. He was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A construction injury was at Memorial Union, at 800 Langdon St., at 11:30 a.m. after a worker slipped off a beam and fell. Firefighters said his harness prevented him from falling to the ground. He co-workers were able to lower him to safety. A crane was used to get a basket from an area below ground to an area where he could be taken to an ambulance.

The patient was transported to University of Wisconsin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
