As an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for more than 60 years, Caryl devoted much of her time to Esther Circle, choir, handbells, and various committees of the church and school. Her past hobbies included extensive world travel, golf, volleyball, gardening, and arts and crafts. When her children were young, she enjoyed numerous summer trips as the family toured all over the United States. Her family and friends will remember her zest for life as she readily joined in games of all kinds, followed Wisconsin sports teams, and delighted in learning about historic and natural wonders.

Caryl is survived by two sons, Mark of Cheyenne, Wyo., Brad (Cindy) of Allen, Texas; two daughters, Sally (Steve) Hodge of DeForest, Polly of North Mankato, Minn.; granddaughters, Stephanie (Jason) Schultz, Katy (Matthew) Gefaller, Kelly Browne, Anna (Kyle) Logsdon, Becky Browne and Kara Browne; grandson, Aaron Browne; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Elijah Gefaller, and Kaylie and Avery Logsdon; a sister, Edythe (Clayton) Behrens of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marshall F. Browne Jr.; her parents; sister, Paula Kammrath; and brother, Eugene Klug.
