A 25-year-old Madison man had his car taken at knifepoint in an evening that started with meeting a girl through an online chat, according to Madison police.
The victim said he met a 17-year-old girl on an online dating site Wednesday and agreed to pick her up at her home in Stoughton. He said the girl was accompanied by another female when he picked them up and he dropped the two off at East Towne Mall.
When he picked them up later, he said they were accompanied by a man who said he needed a ride to the South Towne Mall area.
The victim told police that while they were on their way, the man pulled out a knife and told him to park the car and get out. The victim said he initially thought the man was joking. The victim got out of the car in the 5500 block of Ethelwyn Road and the man got behind the wheel and drove away, according to police.
The victim ran to a nearby home and called police. He told police he had cut his thumb on the thief’s knife during the confrontation.
The carjacker is described as black, 20 to 22 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt under a light jacket and a black face mask that covered part of his face.
