Benty (Navis) Swaagman

MADISON-Benty (Navis) Swaagman passed away peacefully at Harmony House in Sun Prairie on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Benty was born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Randolph, the daughter of Harry and Etta (Slager) Swaagman. She married Clifford Navis on Jan. 17, 1947.

Together they had four children, Calvin (Mary) of Hilton Head, S.C., Bonnie Vaccaro (Stephen) of Lancaster, Va., Benny of Madison, and Clifford Jay (Mary Anne) of Greenville, S.C. She was the beloved grandmother to Carrie Haertel, Betsy Miller, Robert Forbes, Anthony Vaccaro, Michael and Tyler Navis; and great-grandmother to Callie and Clarke Haertel, Tate, Pryce and Tess Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Katsma; brother, Darvin Swaagman; and her husband, Clifford Navis.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, with the Rev. Doug Van Essen presiding. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony House and Agrace HospiceCare for the loving care they gave to Benty. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude and friendly smile.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Service:
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, with the Rev. Doug Van Essen presiding.
