BELOIT, Wis. -

A Beloit man has been sentenced to 39 years in prison for his involvement in the robbery and battery of an elderly couple.

Christopher Dawson, 21, was convicted in October of armed robbery, armed burglary with a dangerous weapon, two counts of battery to an elderly person and intimidating a witness.

Dawson, along with three other suspects, were charged with breaking into the home of an elderly couple in November of 2010. Prosecutors said Dawson and the others bound the victims and pushed them down the stairs. Dawson put a shirt over the head of the female victim and told her she and her husband were going to die.

The Beloit Daily News reported the suspects stole cash, a coin collection and a Green Bay Packers ring.
