Badger men's hockey pounds Alaska-Anchorage

MADISON -

The Wisconsin Badger men's hockey team scored two power play goals to help defeat Alaska-Anchorage, 5-2 Friday night at the Kohl Center.

Michael Mersch scored both power play goals. Wisconsin hadn't scored with the man advantage in its last seven games and had scored only two power play goals in its last 50 chances.

Mark Zengerle, Tyler Barnes and Nic Kerdiles added goals for the Badgers.

Joel Rumpel had to make only 12 saves to get the win in goal for Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is now 7-5-5 in the WCHA and 10-8-5 overall. Alaska-Anchorage drops to 1-14-4 in the league, 3-15-5 overall.

The Badgers are 9-1-2 in their last 12 games.
