What is your favorite part about living in Madison?

The joy of being close to family after years living in northern Wisconsin, and only being able to visit on the weekends.

What is the biggest news story that you've covered?

The overnight breaking news of the death of Osama bin Laden. I was working at WEAU in Eau Claire with a small morning show staff. I ran about 5 miles around the station that morning to get as much fresh information as I could into our 2.5 hour show.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In the summer I love going to the farmer's market on the Capitol Square and cooking with all the delicious fresh produce I purchase. In the winter nothing gets better than snuggling up on the couch with a good book, or watching a favorite movie.

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

I'm from the dairy state, they are all a favorite!

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?

My favorite sport is Softball. I was an intense high school competitor, but sadly no longer belong to a team. There's always next summer...

If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?

The ability to be in two places at one time. That would come in handy in broadcast journalism.

What is the worst job you have ever had?

When I was in high school, I worked an entire summer as a research assistant at the DNR fish farm in Lake Mills, Wis. While there I cleaned the scum off outdoor ponds, skimmed fish pools for dead fish and was assigned the fun task of putting together the Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS) for that DNR location. That meant hours of sifting through bottles of chemicals, logging them and researching them, so they could be properly documented. That job was really not that bad, just very dirty!

What is your favorite song of all time?

'Here Come the Sun' -The Beatles

What is your favorite movie of all time?

'Dances with Wolves'

What is your favorite book of all time?

I judge this by how many times I have read a book. As an adult I'm constantly re-reading 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austin, but as a kid I read 'Ella Enchanted' by Gail Carson Levine more times than I can count.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

'Practice makes perfect' -My Dad would repeat this to me regularly when I was preparing for sports games. I think it applies to so many facets of life.

Where were you when September 11, 2001 occurred?

I was in Mr. Orlopp's 8th Grade class at O'Keeffe Middle School. We were fortunate to have a television in our classroom. My teacher turned on the media coverage in time for us to see the second plane hit the towers. I will never forget what I saw, discussed and the people who surrounded me at the time.
