What is your favorite part about living in Madison?
Being a part of the great sports histories of the University of Wisconsin and all the high schools around the area.

1994 Rose Bowl
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Sit on the back patio with my wife, playing golf, grilling steaks, watching cable, mowing lawn.
What is your family life like? Significant other, married, kids?
Married to my wife, Jill , 28 years. Three children, Katie (just graduated from U. of Minnesota), Connor (attending U. of Minnesota), Brett (8th grade)
What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (at Culver's)
What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you?
Watching my brother go deer hunting with a jackknife in our front yard when I was 6.
What is your favorite place to vacation?
Who is your hero and why?
My parents because they worked so hard to provide for their four sons and never complained—and got those four sons through college!
What was your favorite band when you were in high school?
Earth, Wind and Fire (really).
What is your favorite sport to play or watch?
Play golf, watch baseball or golf.
If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?
The ability achieve world peace with a wave of the hand.
What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?
Playing the piano or having good handwriting.
What is your most memorable travel experience?
Riding to Milwaukee on the Interstate when I was young and seeing the road go by through a hole that had rusted out in the floor of our car.
What is the worst job you have ever had?
Stocking Ortho products at the Hardware Hank in Wisconsin Rapids—it almost made me pass out.
Who would you most like to interview alive or dead, and why?
Dale Murphy—the greatest baseball player of my generation.
What is your favorite tradition around the holidays?
Going to Bowl Games.
What is your favorite song of all time?
The theme from Tootsie (It Might Be You by Stephen Bishop)—it was a song at our wedding.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
1) Pride of the Yankees, 2) Stripes.
What is your favorite book of all time?
"Clemente", by David Maraniss.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
My Dad used to say "always go to a round church so the Devil can't corner you."
If you could relive any moment...what would that be?
Watching our children play high school sports (we have one child to go, so we'll see).
Where were you when September 11, 2001 occurred?
At home taking dishes out of the dishwasher—didn’t finish it that day.
