What is your favorite part about living in Madison?

Cheese curds.

What is the biggest news story that you've covered?

The protests here in 2011, it was incredible.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Hang out with my husband, shop, read, non-fiction books about News, Watch trashy reality TV.

What is your family life like? Significant other, married, kids?

Just got married.

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Chocolate chip cookie-dough, or cake batter.

What is your favorite place to vacation?

I like to be to travel to St. Louis, where I'm from and see my family. I love the beach too, but don't like seaweed.

Who is your hero and why?

My mom, she's incredible.

What was your favorite band when you were in high school?

I liked all sort of music, no real favorite. I loved the Beatles in college though.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?

I don't play sports. I like to watch baseball, golf and football with my husband. But I can't watch all day. I can only watch sports in moderation.

What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?

I can't draw, or paint, or create artwork to save my life. I'm terrible at artsy things.

Who would you most like to interview alive or dead, and why?

There are tons of people. I can't think of just one.

What is your favorite tradition around the holidays?

Wrapping presents with my mom, making/eating Christmas cookies.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

"When Harry Met Sally"

What is your favorite book of all time?

"To Kill a Mockingbird"

If you could relive any moment...what would that be?

My Wedding Day. It was really wonderful.

Where were you when September 11, 2001 occurred?

In my sophomore year of high school. I said a prayer with a friend in the hallway, and then went to geometry. We didn't do anything the rest of the day in any classes just watched the coverage. I think I watched the coverage almost 24/7 for about two weeks.

  • PHOTOS: Madison store helps collect hundreds of Teddy bears for police

    MADISON, Wis.--A west Madison store is part of an effort to collect hundreds of stuffed animals to donate to six police departments in Southern Wisconsin.

    Todd Merryfield, owner of The Learning Shop at 714 S. Gammon Road, said the store is collecting the bears for officers who use them to help comfort children with whom police come in contact.

    "This is a great way to support what (police) do," Merryfield said. "Those are the kids that need something like this to reassure them, calm them down, and let them know that things are all right."

    Nearly 500 plush animals were donated Tuesday, a Learning Shop spokeswoman said. The Madison store's effort is part of a larger initiative through the Bears for Humanity organization.
