What is your favorite part about living in Madison?
Great downtown, college atmosphere, the lakes and fall Saturdays at Camp Randall.
What is the biggest news story that you've covered?
2008 Presidential Election, 2005 Stoughton Tornado.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my wife and two sons, doing pretty much anything. Love to travel and show my boys as much of the world as I can.
What is your family life like? Significant other, married, kids?
Married to my wife Kim, we have two awesome sons Jordan and Hunter.
What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you?
Called in to win movie tickets on a radio show when I was 8 years old. The answer to the trivia question was "The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz." I called the wrong number at 7am and some guy on the other end of the line, barely awake, said, "what's wrong with you kid?"
What is your favorite place to vacation?
Playa del Carmen, Mexico and Outer Banks, NC.
Who is your hero and why?
My dad, because I wake every day wondering how he did what he did. Raised 5 kids, and saved lives and made them better every day. He was a doctor.
What was your favorite band when you were in high school?
Really got hooked on Pearl Jam my first year out of high school.
What is your favorite sport to play or watch?
If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?
Easily the ability to fly.
What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?
What is your most memorable travel experience?
Cape Cod with my family in 1982, or my honeymoon with my wife in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, 2004.
What is the worst job you have ever had?
Trimmed rubber moldings off piston rings for one day during summer break from college. Bluffton Rubber Company. Awful job.
Who would you most like to interview alive or dead, and why?
Lincoln. Because he's Lincoln, and he's the greatest president in American history, and the simple sight of him walking into a room would be amazing.
What is your favorite tradition around the holidays?
Watching my beautiful sons come down to see the Christmas tree on Christmas morning.
What is your favorite song of all time?
Notre Dame Victory March, been going to games since 1979.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
The Shawshank Redemption.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Five People You Meet In Heaven, by Mitch Albom.
If you could relive any moment...what would that be?
My wife wouldn’t like it, but I've never been happier than the two days we welcomed our two sons into the world.
Where were you when September 11, 2001 occurred?
Asleep, I had worked late the night before, and my father called me to tell me - I immediately went to work, to see if there was anything I could do. I was our Sports Director at the time, so all sports events were cancelled, sportscasts were cancelled, and I spent much of the day answering phones and helping in news.
