What is your favorite part about living in Madison?
Hands down, it's the people. There's a real sense of community and compassion among the people who live here. I get to see that every day through the stories we cover.

What is the biggest news story that you've covered?
Covering the protests at the State Capitol leading up to the Recall Elections was an unforgettable experience. But there have been so many stories in Wisconsin over the years affecting people's lives in profound ways—The Weston High School shootings, 2008’s historic floods, following the UW Football team’s trip to the 2011 Rose Bowl.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time with my family is the most rewarding part of my life. My brother and I are musicians who enjoy a basement jam session every once in a while. You can find some of our tunes at facebook.com/twoboreddorks.

What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
Tie: Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookies N' Cream.

What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you?
Caught with my fly open in high school physics. Lying on a bed of nails.

Who is your hero and why?
My parents, who sacrificed so much so my brother and I could succeed. In my eyes, they are the true embodiment of the American dream.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch?
Love watching football. I enjoy playing basketball and golf.

If you could possess one superhuman power, what would it be?
Flight would be cool. Although Wolverine's healing powers would be great for colds.

What are you really bad at that you'd love to be great at?
Piano. You were right, Mom. I should have never quit lessons.

What is your most memorable travel experience?
2010 family road trip to the Smoky Mountains.

What is your favorite tradition around the holidays?
Spending quality time with my family or my work family (we work a lot of holidays).

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Be happy.

If you could relive any moment...what would that be?
Any moment spent with my late father.
