Madison-On Saturday, July 27th, surrounded by family, Ronald Sauer lost his fight with cancer and was finally able to take his bike ride to the sky.

He was an inspiration and hero to everyone’s life he touched; his fighting spirit and kind heart will forever be missed. Through all of life’s ups and downs he always remained positive and kept a smile on his face.

Ron was a very proud and devoted father and grandfather. He loved his bike rides, technology, and Charlie, his cat. As a devoted Wisconsinite he never missed a Badger or Packer game. Ron worked at Oscar Mayer and always enjoyed being around the people that he worked with who were like a family to him.

Ron is survived by his children Brian, Brad (Katie), Jennifer (Paul), Jason (Becky), Rosie (Thomas); 5 grandchildren, Bradley, Mason, Logan, Hannah, and Joanna; his mother Lillian; his brother Mason (Jacki); his sister Lenell; his nephew Ryan; the mother of his children Karen Sauer; and his Oscar Mayer family that he was very close to.

He was preceded in death by his father Herbert; and his step-father Wilfred Miron.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N Sherman Ave, Madison. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 4pm until 7pm. A second visitation will take place on Thursday from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service on Thursday at Highland Memory Gardens.

Ron was an avid Badger and Packer fan and his family would appreciate it if everyone could wear some Badger or Packer apparel to the visitation and funeral.

The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare, Dr. Sam Lubner at UW Carbone Cancer Center, and all the nurses and doctors at UW and Meriter Hospital that took care of Ron.
