Joyce E Stetler Chase
Joyce E. Stetler Chase, age 82, of La Crosse, WI (formally of Mauston, WI) passed away on Monday, Oct. 28th, 2013 at Hillview Healthcare Center in La Crosse, WI.
Joyce was born on Dec. 18th, 1930, the daughter of Otto and Mabel Gehri of Wonewoc, WI. On August, 20th, 1947 Joyce married Harry C. Stetler of Elroy, WI. Harry and Joyce spent 48 years happily married until Harry’s death in 1995. Joyce was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mauston, WI. She spent 28 years working for the Phillips Rexall Drugstore in the same town. After retiring, Joyce worked part-time at Better Buys and Culvers .
Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and playing cards, going to dances with Harry on Saturday nights and spending time with her grandchildren. Harry and Joyce could be found at their cabin fishing on the shores of the Lemonweir River or at home making chocolate malts and playing rummy 500 with their grandkids. Joyce “Two Home Mom” will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Surviving Joyce are her three daughters, Linda (Gary ) Barrix of Mauston, WI ; Barbara(Dan) Warner of Sun Prairie, WI; Lori(Eric) Jensen of La Crosse, WI and daughter-in-law Sue Ellen Stetler of White Water, WI. Joyce is also survived by her grandchildren; Jeffrey(Melissa) Barrix, Robert (Lisa) Barrix, Angela (Ben) VanSlyke, Alan(Stephanie) Warner, Adam Warner, Rebecca (Mike) Lueloff, Kimberly (Mikey) Pospychalla , Brad (Elizabeth) Skaer; Beth (Ross) Moline and great grandchildren; Clayton, Mallory and Jacob Barrix, Dakota and Alydia Barrix, Abigail VanSlyke, Ethan Lueloff, Blake Pospychalla and Brooklyn Moline. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harry who passed away in 1995 and son James who died in 1998.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31st at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (517 Grayside Ave.) in Mauston, WI. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pastor David Leistekow of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church of La Crosse will be presiding. Burial will be at the Mauston Cemetery.
