Harlan Maiden

MADISON – Harlan E. Maiden, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26, 2013.

He was born in Dubuque, IA on January 27, 1937 to Fred and Mary Maiden. Harlan attended Senior High in Dubuque. He served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After returning from the war he met and married Alice Haesler, often saying his life began after he met Alice. Harlan worked for various companies as a tile finisher and his talents are displayed in many homes and other prominent buildings in the Wisconsin area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the penny slots at the casino, and spending time with his family and friends. Harlan was very social, enjoyed people, and we are all blessed to have known and loved him. He will be dearly missed.

Harlan is survived by his sisters, LaVon Meyer and Joan (Bernie) Barry; sister-in-law, Zeda Maiden; brothers-in-law, Donny Ehlers and Merlin Kruser; nieces and nephews, Vicki, Linda, Michelle, Lynn, Lee, Barb, Connie, Cheryl, Brenda, Mallory, Bruce Meyer, Tim, Jamie, Mike, Rick, Gary, Todd, Danny, Keith, Chris, Pat, Benji, Bernie, Brad, Bret, Brice, Bruce Barry, Mark Maiden, Mark Kruser, Eric, Ken and Ryan, Peter (Rose) Segerson, Kathy (Chess) Adams, Carla Rand, Margaret Martin, Andy (Carolyn) Martin, Becky Martin, Anne Martin (fiancée Greg Shortreed), and many more great nieces and nephews. Harlan was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Alice, who passed away only 12 days ago; parents, Fred and Mary Maiden; brothers, Kenneth (June), Bud, Frank (Mary), and Joe (Joette) Maiden; sisters, Janann (Vito)Tortorice, Lyda Ehlers, and Elaine Kruser; brothers-in-law, Carl Martin, Robert Segerson, and Leo Meyer; sisters-in-law, Helen Martin and Rosemarie Segerson; nephew-in-law, John Rand.

A service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at NOON on Saturday, June 1, 2013, with Pastor Twink Jan-McMahon presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Entombment at Roselawn Memorial Park.
