Dennis F. Springer age 77, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Larson House, Columbus.

He was born on October 24, 1936 in Watertown to Floyd and Florence (Yerges) Springer. Dennis attended the Jordan and St. John’s grade schools in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1954. He worked for Clarence Rahn Masonary and Metalfab. Dennis was employed for the Columbus Rural Electric Co-op for 25 years, first as a tree trimmer, then as an apprentice lineman and later becoming a journey lineman. Under Adams Columbia ownership, he continued working 12 more years until retiring in 1998. He was married to Joyce Patrick in 1985 at Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus. Dennis like to travel, loved his grandkids, polka music and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Many will remember the years he walked around town, and for a good part of the day, occupied a bench outside the Columbus Public Library.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Columbus; three daughters, Suzanne Springer of Madison, Robin (Donald) McCaffery of Columbus and Patti (Dean) Albrecht of Madison; a son, Dennis (Deanna) of Fox Lake; six step-children, Dale (Dawn) Patrick, Lisa (John) Staveness, Brian (Nancy) Patrick, Mark (Belinda) Patrick, Karen (Tom) Moodie and Scott Patrick; three granddaughters, Colleen (Matt) Koopsmans, Katie (Derek) Agnew and Terri Springer; fourteen step-grandchildren, Adam, Jeremy, Shaun, Brandon, Amber, Nicole, Weston, Taylor, Mackenzie, Garrett, Bethany, Erica, Joshua and Jacqueline; seven great grandchildren, Autumn, Alivia, Quinton, Ellie, Natalie, Matthew and Emmy; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dave and Jim.

Respecting his request, there will be no services.
