Betty L. McGuire

Betty L. McGuire, age 84, of Highland, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her home, following a long illness. The former Betty Kolar was born on February 27, 1929 in Highland to Frank and Myra (McGuire) Kolar. She married Ronald McGuire of Highland on October 1, 1951. Following graduation from UW Platteville, Betty taught at Red Oak, Sunny Ridge and then Highland Elementary School, retiring in 1990 after 32 years. Betty’s hobbies include crocheting and quilting. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marjorie (Frank) Komarek.

Betty is survived by her husband, Ron of Highland; four children, Sarah (William) Goldberger of Sarasota, FL; Peter McGuire (Kim Christensen) of Cedar Rapids, IA; Patrick McGuire of Madison and Kevin McGuire of Madison; five grandchildren, Kyle McGuire; Kelsey Goldberger; Crystal McGuire; Ryan Goldberger and Dallas King; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Laufenberg and Dolly McGuire, both of Highland as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 11, 2013 at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church in Highland. Fr. Kenneth J. Frisch will officiate with burial in St. Philip’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again on Saturday after 10:00 A.M.
