Irma A. Gnewikow

Irma Ann Gnewikow, age 94, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born in Neilsville, Wi on April 23, 1918 to the late Herman and Catherine (Henn) Bever. Irma married Russell W. Gnewikow on August 17, 1940, he preceded her in death on June 14, 1985. She worked as a cook in the Sauk Prairie and Merrimac area for many years, eventually retiring from the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital in 1986. Irma enjoyed volunteering at area nursing homes, churches and the hospital. She enjoyed her independence and living at her home on Lake Wisconsin. Irma was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Merrimac and had previously served as Past President of the Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by a brother, Earl (Bernice) Bever, a sister-inlaw, Luella Bever, and a special niece, Lynn Bever. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings; Lester Bever, Herman Bever, Ray Bever, Edna Jacobs, and Ramona Flock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:30am at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH,115 Madison St., Sauk City with Fr. Pedro Escribano officiating. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City from 10:00 am until 11:15 am. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
