Alois Krumenauer, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 18, 1915 in Fall Creek, WI, the son of Jacob and Agnes Krumenauer. His early years were spent on the family farm. On August 23, 1952 Al married Patricia Price and spent the next 60 years raising his family.

Al served in World War II in the 40th Engineer Corp. building bridges and roads for our servicemen. Upon returning from the war he worked in southern Wisconsin as a bridge builder for the Bollen Company. Some of the bridges are still in use today. He continued his passion for the building trade when he worked for the Findorff Company for 25 years as a foreman on jobs such as the UW Hospital, Cuna Mutual, and the WI Historical Society Museum. Even after retirement his love for carpentry continued during his time as a volunteer for St. Vincent's fixing and mending tables, chairs, and other furniture for over 15 years. Dad could often be seen around town riding his bike with his faithful dog Fluffy in the basket, American flag attached to the handlebars. His health eventually brought him to Maplewood Nursing Home and even there one could find him measuring the railings and counting tiles.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia; children, Barb (Steve) Brunner, Jerry (Terry) Krumenauer, Debra (Sid) Ballweg, Teresa (John) Onsager, Mary (Steve) DeMontigny, and Pat (Jane Zeman) Krumenauer. His life was filled with eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Agnes and his brothers and sister: Jacob, Edward, Casper, Victor, Werner, Donald and sister Lenore Stuttgan, his two grandchildren, Emily DeMontigny and Travis Ballweg.

Funeral services will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 115 Madison Street, Sauk City, WI at 11:30 a.m on Thursday, April 4, 2013, with Father John Blewett officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Aloysius Cemetery. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water Street, Sauk City, WI on Wednesday , April 3, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m and also on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for making our father feel so much at home.
